Maiara Kawiil is an old member of AS/AW, who's recently returned to AW, and already she's been active, especially in the Ancient Pueblo Region (which won the Silver Award in the Best Places Contest), as well as winning the Gold Design in the Best Homes Contest for her Rome Domus (as Thea Didius). A place to worth visiting is her property of Woods Canyon Pueblo.

AncientWorlds' Decennalia-celebration is getting closer. And that's why the title above; it is from the Ancient Sites Machu Picchu newspage. (click the title to see it). Tho, it wasn't really truthful, as you can see from the "Blast from the Past"-link on the bottom left ;)... but that's just the way of the newspaper business: competition, competition and once more competition.
Yes indeed; it's been almost 10 years since yours truly first logged into ancientsites.com, and more than 9 years since I made my first Machu Picchu persona, Patuc Tupac. AW Committees are planning the festivities at the moment, and we'd like you to help. One of the plans include a time capsule, into which we would seal some stuff that truly belongs to Americas, or IS Americas, for next decennials to marvel at. So, if you happen to know a fun story, or an old item from back when times, please contact the Scribes, and we'll see if it's worth preserving. If not, don't be disappointed; you can still share it with everybody at the Decennalia-thread, where you can also sign-up for the festivities! And for more information, check out this ACTA's main editorial section, and the special Collector's Edition ACTA on July 16th. ~Topi<|-----<<

Inti Raymi is almost here! This year the festivities will start at Machu Picchu on June 23 and end in Qosqo on June 24. The celebrations will include a tour with a mysterious hunt for The Khipu Code, a Tinku-tournament, Offerings to Inti and Sun Mask-decorating, and of course a great party! Please contact the Americas scribes; there's still time to volunteer to help.

Hood News:
AmericasDing5.gif

Living in Hoods-chat, on April 28, at Voices in the Valley was attended by 5 members. Reading the transcript, it seems that the discussion was lively; probably because none of the scibes was present? ;). Main thing that came up was that the Americas' hoods need more visibility (maybe its own board in the Americas' main page?), so that people can find them and their boards better. As can be seen from the activity at the Kituwah-district, it's up to the members themselves to make the hoods lively. People still keep wanting wider editing rights to the hoods, so that they would be easier to edit and not such a burden for the scribes (but it's really not a burden, guys!) So far Jot's decision on it has been to keep the rights only for the admin for security reasons. Also, there was an excellent idea about the Americas' hoods' own newspaper, and it has a name already: Hood Herald! Only thing is to find a good place for it (again, maybe that new board made especially for the hoods and accessible from the main page of Americas). To discuss these and other hood ideas, post at the Americas Neighborhood Project-thread.

The Kituwah district has planted it's corn and other veggies, and now it's time for the Green Corn Moon! Bring your own scarecrow, and have some strawberries with the friendy Tsalagi people at The Three Sisters Inn. Special threads will be created for the activities on June 1st (ie. today, so they might be up already!).
Also, SkyEyes Sequoyah has been dreaming about a rainforest district, The Jocasse Gorges. Check out his post for more information.

The Aztec hoods are planning their own Day of the Dead-festival in late July/early August. If you'd like to help in planning, please contact Maya Tupac or Acol ShieldJaguar.

Best Places Contest 2007:
Best Places_Silver

On Monday, April 2, 2007, awards were handed out to the best 'hoods of AncientWorlds, with the Americas receiving a silver medal and three special honors. Ancient Pueblo Region got The Silver Medal! It was built by Gamma Roca with help from Asenath Amenhotep, MacMorna Niafer, Caileadair Etana, Jia Li Shen Chi, Helia Lupus, Maiara Kawiil and Aynara MorningStar. A real multi-cultural bunch of builders, if I may so! And no wonder that Akatena Sequoyah asked you to visit it in the last ACTA (Featured Hood). :D

SP Americas
Yucay, The Highlands and East of Big Muddy were all awarded a Special Places plaque. Our thanks and sincere appreciation to all who have been involved in the creation of these 'hoods. And congratulations to all!

Check out all The Best Places in AncientWorlds at the Awards-thread.
