Relative Dating Methods

Methods that can give the speculative date of an artefact. They are usually concerned with the order of events at a site, and how artefacts are associated with each other.

Stratigraphy and Superposition
Seriation/Cross dating

Absolute Dating Methods

Methods that are able to give a specific date of an artefact. These look at the artefact itself, rather than relying on what has been found around it.
