Miss Piggy Goes To China

by Kutulun Khan

JunDi
Greetings, Mortals! I am the beloved and divine Jun Di, Lady of Light, wise and benevolent. You may bow now.

I come from the great Pole Star, where I hold up the Sun and Moon - among other things. You may grovel, as I am doing you the infinitely divine favor of taking you on a tour of one of China's great cities!

What do you mean, my three heads disturb you? How dare you! Just because one of my three faces is that of a pig, and seven heavenly pigs draw my star-spangled chariot coursing through the upper air? Your laughter shows that you lack both wisdom and courtesy. The pig is one of the wisest creatures on earth and a foundation of wealth - and no spareribs jokes, PUH-LEEZE.

However, I am known for my patience. I've carried sniggering mortals before, and only my benevolence ensures your safety, or you'd end up on the spit yourselves. Peace, then. Come, we have so much to see!

Note: Jun Di is also known as Marici, Goddess of Dawn, in India and Tibet, and Marishiten, Goddess of Light and Samurai, in Japan. Marici means "ray of light" in Sanskrit.
