A fond farewell...
MacMorna Niafer and yours truly may have retired, but we did so with a bang,
not a whimper. First we took a Wild Ride through Celtia, then partied at the Scribal roast till we dropped. We are very proud to announce that our swan song Boollywood is one of our two new Gems. The other Gem is
Which Creepy Otherworld Creature Are You?. Brainchild of
Katlyne MacRoth, this spooky quiz has a twist worth taking. A huge thanks to everyone who helped make this Goldfest and Samhain a memorable time, and for the high praise and great retirement gifts. By the way, if you forgot to pick up your participants' plaque, please take one of these two enchanting sidhe horses designed by the talented sidhe lass,
Caoimhe Manach.

...not!
A word of warning: don't go thinking you can get rid of us
that easily. I assure you, we're still alive and kickin'. Mac is still cobbling the Hoods together and nagging us about helping him every chance he gets (ducks flying
Welly). He's also Celtia's Ambassador to Mesopotamia. We're not exactly sure what that means yet, except that they may foot his kash habit. I think they also promised to turn a blind eye to his illegal still in the basement of the Kash Bowl, and possibly a lifetime supply of bendy straws. And I'm still active in our Hood roleplay and have a few more surprise events up my sleeve - like a joint game of Severed Head Bowling with The Americas. So you see, just because we turned in our Scribal mantles does not mean we've skipped town. Now stop sitting around and get to work.
Hogmanay - Scottish New Year - is upon us and our illustrious Scribes and Ceannmor need your help. We're finally opening our first marketplace, a project that has been in the works for a few years. And Mac has a map to prove it! For more information, visit the
Hogmanay Planning thread. If we don't see you over the holidays, may the magic of the season be yours!
Here we Grow Again
Hood Report by MacMorna Niafer
When the Great God Jot threw the switch allowing us to purchase properties in the neighborhoods, we made a terrible discovery. Though most of Celtia came smoothely on line, we had erred in our structure of Gaul. With a lot of scurrying around and some fantastic "chain-sawing" by our handy-dandy Demi-Goddess, we managed to set things to rights in time for GoldFest. The net result is,
GAUL has a completely new look. We broke it down into seven regions, and moved all of the existing "settlements" into their proper region. While we were at it, we did some major renovations on
Bibracte, thanks to some new archaeological sketches supplied by Ceffyl Aedui. At the moment, Fedelm and I are concentrating on Armorica, home to the Venetii tribe.
Vannes, their capitol, should be ready in a few weeks. I am also trying to make some sense of the great stone monuments of Carnac, and Fenian is working on Trier, one of the major settlements in
Belgica. All this work on Gaul does not mean we are neglecting the rest of Celtia. We have work in progress in each of the other three regions of Celtia. Check out the
Celtia Neighborhoods Status Report to see where we¹re going (and growing). If you¹d like to lend a hand, contact me (
MacMorna) or
Fenian.
As The Ancient World Turns...
the latest updates on Celtia's ongoing soaps, errrrrr, roleplay stories
by Fenian Niafer
The stage was set on Beltane, the scene was pre-Christian Ireland. A band of renegade warriors, each sworn to a different oath of deadly vengeance, rode out from
Magh Croimor, the central Plain of the Great Heart. Their evil plan was to sweep across the land in a
Summer of Blood! Led by the crook-backed outlaw chief
Nion Cumhaill, they raided their way on a merry spree through the 'hoods of Celtia, pursued by a gathering crowd of outraged characters. In Summer of Blood's dramatic final act on Samhain, the story clashed and converged head-on with two of Celtia's main historical roleplays -
Inver Colpa and
The Once and Future Brude - in a fiery battle of tribes and clans that left the stronghold of Niafer burned to the ground and countless casualties.
Now that An Caiseal lies in ruins, what new alliances and feuds will rise from the ashes? Can anyone take the place of the Niafer war chief
Dobhar, slain in battle by the axe-man of Magh Croimor? Who will carry the news of his hero-death to the Once and Future Brude, the Pictish queen
Verica Cruithni, who longingly awaits the return of her beloved consort across the sea on the remote island of
Iona? And what challenges are in store for the daring warriors who accept Scathach's seductive invitation? The answers to these questions will unfold in the coming weeks, so stay tuned.
Meanwhile, in another place, another time, there is great unrest among the Brigantes Confederacy. At the seat of Brigantes power in
Ebrauc sits the lecherous and treacherous
Santorix, a puppet Brehyrion whose strings are pulled by the Roman governor Agricola. Can the oppressed and shattered
Brigantia Confederacy regain its strength, overthrow the usurper and unite under their own tribal leader? This proud people refuses to be conquered! Read
Return to Power for the latest intriguing developments as this story moves swiftly towards its bold climax.
