In the Spotlight

Group Spotlight
Ancient Ways very unique and different from most the other groups at AW, because it spans all of the cities here at AW, it is a combined effort to enable each of us to teach more about our world and learn from the others about their world. It is a group "focused on the study of the daily lives of the ancient peoples we represent." With a focus on comparing the differences in the numerous cultures housed here at AW. If it sounds interesting to you, please have a look for yourself and join if you'd like.

Members in the Spotlight
Meryt is one of the new scribes in Egypt, she is a fun lady, who just pops into say hi when you least expect it. She is gifted in making graphics and her home is breath taking! If you want to make a new friend, or need help, she's a friendly and helpful lady. I'm so happy to see her as a scribe.

Neseret Sekhmet
(aka Katherine Greenberg, Symposion guest)
With an impressive list of creditials, Neseret has delighted us all in the Symposion series. Her insights into Egyptian history and archaeology have been a breath of fresh air in the mouldy halls of the ancient Egyptian Temples. Please visit her homesite as she has written a few articles for all of us to enjoy.

Hood Spotlight
Lower Laurel is known as the garden of Kemet, a paradise to the Pharaohs, it is tranquil and seemingly untouched by its rich history and extensive existence. It is known not only for its breathtaking beauty, but for monuments such as the Temple to Sobek where you can participate in feeding the crocodiles; not to mention the famous pyramid complex at Harawa that housed the mysterious labyrinth; or visit the necropolis of the nobles located at the "Mouth of the Lake." An inviting, historic, lush and exotic land surely calls out to anyone who cherishes serenity and history.

ACTA DIURNAEgyptian World News

The Thoth Review And World Report

Happy Holidays My Fellow Egyptians! Welcome to our December edition of the Acta Diurna. I would like to take this opportunity to welcome our two new Scribes in Egypt, MerytMaihes Osorkon and Nilaja Ahmenhotep. Both are very nice ladies, helpful and knowledgeable, so if you see them online and need a little help, I'm sure they will gladly do what they can to assist you. Last January I spotlighted Nilaja when she was just one of us, lol! And in this edition I will spotlight Meryt from my own point of view, they are both lovely people. Congratulations ladies!

Lotus As you know here at AW we all celebrated Gold Fest and true to our festive Egyptian style, our day was humorous, challenging, and quite entertaining. Some of you might have visited the creative Studio LIV BCE and cut your own musical track; those brave enough may have hunted down the ten mummies reburied in the hoods of Egypt in the Madness of Aha; it was an arduous task and the dedicated winners were Spethi Ramesses, Kendal Caledonii and Elena Curius; and when you weren't hunting mummies and recording melodious tunes, perhaps you stopped by the VII Sisters Salon for a wacky makeover. I believe it's safe to say a good time was had by all.

On the intellectual front, Egypt was fortunate enough to have the renowned Egyptologist, Katherine Griffis-Greenberg join us in the Symposium November 19-25. There were many interesting discussions on the board, such as Joseph and the Hebrews, the Pyramids of Giza, Horemheb and much, much more, and Ms. Griffis-Greenberg was kind enough to provide some wonderful Egyptological links which should prove invaluable to many of us.

Thanks to Mirjam and Asenath for setting it all up! If you were unable to join in the discussion and would like to see for yourself visit The Symposium Board.

Also in the news, there is a new thread in Egypt, it's called Egyptian Exhibitions. If you have information or are looking for information, links etc about what you can find at your local museum, this is the thread to visit. You can find it Here.

As many of us are gearing up for the holidays in RL, Rome is busy preparing for Saturnalia which is always quite fun, and of course Germania is hard at work getting ready for Yule, a fantastic celebration done in perfect German style. So get your party clothes ready everyone, you are guaranteed to have a good time!

Help Wanted

Do you have a subject near and dear to your heart and would like to have your own column here in our Egyptian Acta? Or perhaps you would like to be a roving reporter who would like to scout the hoods or groups; or maybe you know of a fellow Egyptian you feel should be in the member spotlight and would like to write a brief article about them.

Positions are available and your input welcome, this is your Acta Diurna after all and you now have a chance to put your own little mark on it and make it even more your own. If you want a full time position or would just like to submit articles here and there, your input is welcomed and appreciated! If anyone is interested, just stop by my per and leave me a note and we can go from there.

The Ancient Worlds Handbook is up and running, it's still a work in progress but offers plenty of help for those of us who are seeking to learn how to dress up our homes. It is definitely worth book marking!

Happy Holidays Everyone!

Until Next Time, Egypt!

Egypt finally has a map!
by Asenath Amenhotep

SenenAnep Meritamen has created a splendiferous Flash map of Egypt which includes all the sepats, ancient and modern greek city names which are hotlinked to the hoods. You can also zoom in on a particular section if you choose to. This is map is truly amazing and is worth checking out - you can view it on the Egypt homepage. All of Egypt thanks you, SenenAnep!

Farewell to Two Dear Scribes
by Asenath Amenhotep

It was at the end of Goldfest that Egypt bade goodbye to two of our most well-known scribes, AzureEyes Ramesses and Hapshetsut Nebet. Egypt would like to thank both of them for their service to Egypt and Ancientworlds. Without these two, this scribe would not have had such a smooth ride in my first couple of months. Both were so helpful when I first started and probably would not have gotten through the last Springfest without them. I wish both of them every success in whatever else they decide to do in or out of Ancientworlds.
