One night the Lady Egypt had a dream. She dreampt she was walking through desert sands with the Lord Osiris. Across the night sky the Lord Ra flashed scenes from her life. In each scene the dreamer noticed two sets of footprints in the sand; one belonging to herself, and one to the Lord Osiris.

When the last scene of Egypts life flashed before her, the dreamer looked back at the footprints. She noticed that many times along the path of her life there was only one set of footprints. She also noticed that this happened at the very lowest and saddest times in her life.

This really bothered the Lady Egypt and she questioned the Lord Osiris about it. "My Lord, you said you would always be there to watch over me, the land of Egypt and that you'd walk with me all the way. But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life, there is only one set of footprints. I don't understand why when I needed you most you would leave me."

The Lord Osiris replied, "Dear child, my Egypt, I have never left you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of foot prints, it was then that I carried you."
