Springfest Special Edition!

The birds are twittering, the flowers are out, the branches are budding - and it's Springfest at AncientWorlds. In a way, this is our fifth Springfest, if you count the "beta-launch" festival of March, 2002, when we beta-tested our new AncientWorlds' format. Us old-timers still remember that the flourish of the festival was Jot's "lighting the AW fire" the final night of the festival. Unfortunately, so many people were online that the server provided us all with a metaphorical lightning and thunder storm! We weren't sure we would make it - but the flame was lit, and the rest, as they say, is history.

This will be our last Springfest, as Admin has, after quite a lot of thought, decided that one site-wide festival puts quite enough pressure on our hard-working scribes. The plans are that 'local' festivals will delight us in future springs, while we'll save our 'site-wide' festival for a celebration of AW's official anniversary, with October's "Goldfest." So make the most of the offerings this spring!

This year's Springfest is brought to you by four worlds: Rome, Egypt, Celtia, and The Americas. The scribes and volunteers have been hard at work since mid-January to bring you a light-hearted celebration not only of spring in general, but ancient spring's in particular. Is there a theme? Well, what is the most popular AW event? Visiting with friends with a vintage cup of wine, barley beer, meade, Aztec chocolate, or your favorite tipple! So enjoy our vinous explorations of friendship, wine and the gods thereof in Springfest, 2006. And hold on to those herbal hangover cures!
