Goldfest '05!
For this Special Edition, in which we are focusing on our upcoming Festival events, one link truly says it all as we celebrate the third anniversary of the 2002 Gold Launch celebrations, in which AncientSites was formally refounded as AncientWorlds. Thanks to a ton of work by the scribes of Hellas, Mesopotamia, Germania, and the Orient, the IV Worlds will offer quite a
Selection of Events from October 20-23, to celebrate the beginning of AW's
fourth year.
One of the 2 universal events planned and created by all 4 of the worlds participating is a wonderful psuedo-historical satire called
The Wizard of AWz, based on the beloved movie but with both ancient history and an AW twist (when's the last time you saw Jot as "the man behind the curtain"?) It should provide a fun commentary as we progress through our four worlds, and the graphics (produced by Alerissa Nestor and her team of HTML wizards) are simply hilarious and will be long remembered!
The second universal event is the
Golden Tour, a tour to locations in each of the 4 worlds heralded to be one of their finest local spots. I won't give it all away just yet, but be prepared to see the most beautiful islands you'll ever lay your eyes on, an ancient ghost city believed to once hold over 1 million residents, the finest structures created by man during an age of darkness and even a country who's importance throughout history was so great it's seen the rise and fall of more empires than you can shake a stick at! This is something not to be missed.
And Samhain too!
But that's not all that's going on - not by a long sword! Since the founding of AS, Halloween - or more historically, Samhain to the Celts - turned out to be one of everyone's favorite holidays online. In 2002 through 2004, Celtia was always a leader at Goldfest with its special spooks and fun events. Not to be outdone this year, they intend to host Samhain festivities at the end of this month, after Goldfest. (Celtia will "formally" hold its celebration with our remaining four worlds during Springfest '06.) Any doubts? They're already at it! Find details at their
Samhain planning thread, events kick off on October 29th.
Scribes Anew, November, 2005
It's traditional between Halloween and the build-up to our AW Saturnalia Holidays to do the "Scribal Changeout" (no, that's not a dance, although sometimes it IS a riot), when old scribes retire and new scribes come in. We hope to announce a full slate of scribes in all VIII AW worlds come November 1. Stay tuned for details, a party to celebrate both our outgoing and incoming scribes, and lots of notice. If you are new to AW, the scribes are those magic workers who create much of what you see in your world. Stay tuned, and plan to welcome fresh new faces!
Arachne's Web: Haunted Homes Spectacular!
Arachne's Web, that powerhouse of html talent and instruction at AncientWorlds, is doing another "Haunted Homes Tour" in which the best graphics artists of AW will compete to delight you with the frights of the season. Event is already underway and open to all AW members, you don't even have to be an Arachnid. If you feel like decorating for the season you can find sign up information
Here or take the tour below.
And to one and all of our ancient brethren (and sistren) - Happy Spook Day!
