It's been a slow, lazy summer. Hope you enjoyed your holidays as much as we did! Now that school has started again, Germania is seeking articles from our citizens. Have you written an article about Germania lately? Have one in mind? If so, we'd love to read it. Contact any of your Germanic scribes and let us know about your article so we can feature it, here and in the Articles library!

Groups in the Spotlight

Renaissance and Raptures
Renaissance and Raptures is a long-standing group headed by Neima Nebet and Publius Fabius Scipio.
The group is described as: An historical academic group including role play. With emphasis on the Tudors who were a Welsh-English family that ruled England from 1485 to 1603. Special attention will be paid to King Henry VIII. Check it out and you too might find yourself enraptured by this great group!

Featured Neighborhood

S
Found in Anglo-Saxon England, Sussex is this edition's highlighted place from Germania. Why, you ask, as there is little to be seen in Sussex at the moment? Ah, but that is why! In the next few weeks we hope to make additions to this 'hood and have articles written as well. Why not join in? Sussex, and other Germanic 'hoods, still need your help! If you want to write articles, research historical sites and people, or create graphics, this is your chance to shine! Please contact any of the Germanic scribes if you are interested in helping Germania grow!!

Germanic News and Notes

July 30th we had the privilege of taking part in the Ancient World Pub Crawl. As seen in the thread starting HERE there was mayhem, flirting, and fun for all! Thanks to Katlyne MacRoth for organizing the event, Amalasuntha for allowing us to mess up the place as usual, and to all the participants for making the evening fun!

Welcome to our newest Germanic group: Deliver us From Evil . This is a roleplay group set at the turn of the 20th century in the Cotswold Hills of England. Drakesheath Hall is the place, and there be ghosts, vampires, and werewolves in them thar hills! Watch your step, as you join in the mayhem of the macabre!

Just a reminder that our Germanic Trivia thread is looking for more questions and answers. Come participate and learn something new!

German Archaeology News and Fun

Bulgarian Gold Find

Thanks to Norvegicus Lupus for the following story which was originally posted in the Germanic Links thread.
"Yahoo News has the article Bulgarian archaeologists have treasure comparable to that of Troy. Bulgarian archaeologists have found 15.000 golden objects made by an unknown community circa 5000 BC. The community exported gold in a very large scale to the central parts of Europe, the Balkans and Anatolia. It started with a farmer, who found a golden necklace, and later 15000 golden objects have been unearthed. Earlier, one thought that the golden objects were produced in Troy. However, the objects were made in Bulgaria." —Norvegicus Lupus

Check the Germanic Link Library often for tidbits found and posted by Norv!!

Viking Longship: Built with ice cream sticks!

In this fun article from Yahoo! News, read about Robert McDonald who spent two years building a fantastic longship replica from ice cream sticks. Mr. McDonald hopes to sail the ship one day, but for now it is on display in Amsterdam. Photo by Reuters.
