Welcome message for new members.

Hello! Guten Tag! God dag! Heilsa!

Welcome to Kunjarazdôz! Thanks for joining Germania's Language Lounge. Kunjarazdôz covers a lot of ground--namely, learning and discussing all the Germanic languages, whether ancient or modern--so here's a brief overview of the various sections of the Group:

Ancient Languages

For the ancient languages, we have discussion areas on each of the ancient Germanic tongues: Old Gothic, Old Norse, and Old English each have their own Boards with threads like "Language Resources" and "General Discussion". Old and Middle High German, and Old Low German (i.e., Saxon) are grouped in the Board titled Old German. Eventually, we may have threads for other Germanic languages like Old Frisian, Old Low Franconian, etc.

Modern Languages

If modern languages are more your style, we've got that, too. Our main focus is studying German. From serious lessons to fun stuff, we hope to have something for those at all levels, from beginner to advanced. We also have threads on the Scandinavian languages.

[Pssst: And if you're really daring, dive into One Step Beyond and try your hand at some Finnish!]

Other Stuff

Everything else goes on in the Lounge Lizards Board:

  • Working on reconstructing the proto-Germanic tongue? Interested in comparing Germanic languages to another language family? Found something interesting that is common to many Germanic languages? Discuss it all in Germanic Generalities!

  • Have an idea or a question you'd like to put to the group? Member Suggestions is the place.

  • Finally, if you're new, come on in to Member Introductions and say hi, and maybe what language experience you've had, if any, or at least what attracted you to Kunjarazdôz. We'd love to meet you!

Please jump in anywhere that strikes your fancy, or just listen if you like. And if you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message, or gram me if I'm online.
