Did You Know...?

Kidnapping of divine statues was a common practice,
for the loss of a city god was seen as a great calamity.

Springfest 2005 a Success!
The vitality and freshness of Spring was in the air! Flowers blooming, the creativity of divinity flowing, and minds pondering troublesome trivia! Not to mention kash all over the place and good eats to boot!
Mesopotamia opened AncientWorlds' SF 2005 and hosted three events for the Spring-flingers. Leah Enkidu provided a super and challenging quiz on Mesopotamian goddesses and the Hanging Gardens of Babylon. *passes out aspirin and gives the quiz-takers sympathetic looks* This reporter was wary of even attempting the quiz! She chickened out with barely a fleeting feeling of regret! *grin*
Next on the agenda was the
Divine-O-Rama Hut sponsored by Infinite Goddess and hosted by Semi-poo and Sargie! Now, where else could you be Divine for a day but there? Our talented visitors came up with some wild, crazy, and gorgeous deities and entries for this 'just-have-fun' event! You can check out the new and improved versions of our participants by visiting the
Divine-O-Rama Hut Album! What a hoot!! Oh yeah, and if you still want to attempt being Divine for a day, I say go for it (little mortal rebel that I am!)! You'll be added to the album as well. Just be sure to read our
Disclaimer! ;)
Last, but not least, was our offering in the historical realm -- Infinite Goddess: An Exhibition of Mesopotamian Goddesses. This exhibition presented the many faces and roles of goddesses in Mesopotamia, from a goddess of the dreaded Underworld to those more benign goddesses of the grain. Visitors can hang on to their tour tickets, and can return for multiple visits. Currently, there are plans to expand the exhibit as much as possible. Infinite Goddess was honored to receive the Silver Best of Fest Award in the Historical Category!
This Springfest was awesome all around! This editor highly recommends that if you missed out on any event, you go for a visit! Just grab your camera, a cold drink and some popcorn! You won't be disappointed! Great job and thanks to all those who worked on SF!

Group Hoopla ~
A truly fascinating and wonderful group that has made their home in Mesopotamia is Of Silk and Gold.
Clothing, jewelry, footware, cosmetics and more "throughout the ages" are the focus of this group.
Wanna know what kind of wigs the ancients wore?
Have some images or information on the jewelry that was popular back in the day?
Stop in for a visit and join the lively and colorful discussions!
Another "new" group in Mesopotamia is Geographia. All the various facets and sub-categories of geography are the topics for group discussion. Physical geography, environmental geography, cartography, and GIS are just some of the areas being created. This is still a fairly unknown group, so if you're an "armchair" geographer, please join us! New members are most welcome!
Gotta Birthday Comin' Up?
Keep your eyes open for a new b-day board to appear in Mesopotamia's Club Med! (Well, where else would we be celebrating your birthday?!?) Send a gram or scroll to your Meso scribes with your birthday date and we'll post up something just for you!! *grin*
