Hellas is hopping! We've been busier than ever
on the Acropolis these days. Our focus for this month's Hellas features and
spotlights are on the earliest periods of Greek history, the Bronze and Iron
Ages.
Events in Hellas
Our
Holiday Graphic Decorating Contest was a huge success! We had over 50
entries and 25 participants. You can view the winners of the contest at the
following post: Contest Winners Announced. The contest was so popular
that it inspired a monthly graphic editing challenge open to everyone in AW.
You may find the contest on the Pinacotheca Board at the following thread:
Hellas Ongoing Decorating "Contest".
Valentine's Day is coming up soon! Are you and your
sweetheart ready for a challenge? This month, you will be able to test your
knowledge of famous ancient Greek couples in an upcoming trivia challenge.
Watch for details! And for now, if you enjoy trivia, join in the ongoing Attic
Trivia Quiz.
Nikolaos Cleomenes' latest edition of Sparta's Journal is hot off the presses! It is a
wonderful resource for anyone interested in the history of Sparta and its
culture. If you wish to contribute to a future edition of the Sparta
Journal, contact Nikolaos at his homesite.
Group News
Our Alexander the Great group is seeking submissions for its
first newsletter; an offsite publication that aims to encourage discussion
about who else? Alexander the Great of course! Those interested in
contributing original articles can leave a message at Kallistos Alexandros'
homesite.
The
Scholeio Neoellinikon group is getting ready to reopen. If you are
interested in learning and discussing the (modern) Greek language, please
join!
Attention all group leaders in Hellas! We are in the process of gearing
up for Springfest. If you are interested in your group sponsoring a contest
or event, please contact either of our Hellas scribes. This is a wonderful
opportunity to spotlight your group and recruit new members.
Neighborhoods Update
Three new neighborhoods have been added: Mycenae, Asclepion, and Byzantium. Now that many of the neighborhoods have been
firmly established, the concentration of work is moving on to develope them
further. A "Things to Do" section is being added to each one. This section
includes (or will include) tours, quizzes, games, shops, tourist
attractions, etc.
Those interested in helping may check out the chart included in the
following post: Rough Table and contact either of the Hellas scribes, Anna
Hippon
or Alerissa Nestor. Be sure to wander through the
neighborhoods soon to catch up on all the latest additions!
