Julilla Sempronius, AncientWorlds
While I spend many more hours in
volunteer service than perhaps I ought, the service of others is
what continues to amaze and thrill me. There were ample
demonstrations, hour upon hour of creativity given to AncientWorlds
by the devoted and devious puzzlemasters during Springfest. I banged
my head against the palace walls trying to dig into the dirt of
Egypt's Malakata Palace Scavenger Hunt. I chased the elusive and
tricksy Tuatha de Danaan seeking their four treasures in Celtia. I
learned more than I ever knew about corn with The Americas crossword
puzzles and thrilled to the beauty and variety of The Orient,
now unveiled for all to enjoy.
Our incredibly talented citizens knocked
themselves out to make this Springfest one of the truly memoriable
Internet events, and what is truly amazing is the hours of work,
coding, graphics and link testing that go on to bring it all to
life.
Thank you, Springfest volunteers, you're
incredible!
Equally amazing is the fact that our
citizens give exemplary service on a day-to-day basis. I'd like to
recognise two people in particular who have put in countless hours
to edit the Acta Diurna. Make no mistake, while my name usually
appears on the article pages, it was the Hapshetsut Nebet and
Vortigern Aedui who really made the pages glow and flow.
Haps has stepped down after the April
issue, and now it is time for Vort and I to take the summer off. It
had been an incredible priviledge to work with both of these
talented editors; their service is matched by their devotion and
good humour. Please take a moment, when you see them online, to say
"thanks" for their work.
