Hi everyone,

Arturus Rex is officially kicking off a feature newsletter, with this being the first of many to come, each to be sent out at the beginning of each month. We will be highlighting events and topics that many members may not be aware of but knew there was something missing from their life, specifically some good Arthuriana. It is my hope that many of you who have been away from Arturus Rex will find a reason to come back and join in the great discussions, or maybe just read what has been happening. It is also my hope that many who do participate will find something that they may have overlooked.

Arturus Rex has come a long way since the resurrection here at Ancient Worlds in November of 2002. What started off as the dream of one man who wanted to recreate the magic he experienced at Ancient Sites, has taken flight from the ashes and has lived up to the message statement of actually being a place "Where the Legend is to become Reality". This is due all in part to the wonderful members who have been tirelessly posting there through thick and thin. This dedication was evident especially through the month of February.

February started off with a few new additions to the Arturus Rex Group, with one being the inception of the Monthly Featured Member. This month we are pleased to say that the featured member was someone who richly deserved this initial award. Breddelwyn Belgae has been consistent in his posting across the boards, in both role play and academic posts. Our own Agitatrix Belli, Neima Nebet had this to say,

Congratulations Breddelwyn!!!! *bg*
A outstanding first selection in my book.

Well said, Neima, and well done Breddelwyn.

The celebrations didn't stop there, though. Two of Arturus Rex's dedicated members submitted Arthurian articles to the February edition of the AW's elite Acta Diurna. Fenian Niafer submitted an excellent article about parallels between Fion Mac Cumhail and the Fenian code of honor with Roots of Chivalry: The Fenian Code of Honor. It is definately worth the read. Diantha Livius also submitted an excellent article about the namesake of yours truly, with Vortigern: A Brief Look into the Life of Vortigern. Another article worthy of reading into. Both of these articles can be expanded upon by the members of the group at Before the Boy Who Would Be King which is a discussion of the Men before Arthur's time, and the newly created, Celtic Traditions in Arthurian Romance. If those two articles weren't enough to convince even the wariest of skeptics that Arturus Rex has the creme de la creme of Ancient Worlds, then perhaps this will.

The Scribe's Pallet: A Writer's Workshop for all forms of writing put on a sitewide contest for the best writing posted at Ancient Worlds. Needless to say, Arturus Rex had both a runner up and the winner in the Role Play category for posts at The Spoils of Avalon. The Spoils of Avalon has been an interactive journey of immortality, bringing Celtic, Norman, and later Arthurian Romances together as an analogous whole. Our own Idol of the King, Victoria Aedui came in a close runner up, with the venerable Fenian Niafer winning the grand prize of the best of the best. It was definitely an honor well received not only to Fenian, but gave the group of Arturus Rex a sense of pride to have the entire site recognize the talented group of writers we have at the group. Well done Fenian and Vic for the excellent contributions to the group.

Although such great accomplishments were being highlighted previously, one that is probably the most wonderful of all is our own Amleth Yngling has even more reason for celebration and receiving congratulations. Amleth became a proud father on Thursday, February 26 of a beautiful baby boy that was a whopping 7lbs, 12-oz. A big congrats from all of us here at Arturus Rex, Amleth.

Although the above mentioned discussions are great, Arturus Rex is filled with just as great ideas and posts. If you haven't taken a tour of the facility, please feel inclined to explore the vastness of the group, with posts in both the roleplay and academic genres. I will leave you all with one last quote from the great Vince Lombardi. A quote that I feel encompasses the atmosphere of Arturus Rex.

"A leader must identify himself with the group, must back up the group, even at the risk of displeasing superiors. He must believe that the group wants from him a sense of approval. If this feeling prevails, production, discipline, morale will be high, and in return, you can demand the cooperation to promote the goals of the company."
