Volume III - Issue I - October 15, 2003

EDITORIAL
AncientWorlds, Maximius Flavius

In the middle of the busy, but altogether splendid GoldFest, it is again time for another ACTA issue to get all members up-to-date with the recent events, festival-wise and city-wise, as well as publish some of the wonderful material submitted to the newspaper during the past weeks. As the new font and graphics reveal, this is the first issue of our third Volume. The history, archaeology, and featured articles of the past twelwe issues of the Volume II have been compiled on a separate Volume II Index page, so that none of the articles are lost "out there!"

In the City & Group News section, the amount of news items from various groups in all cities is surprising. Your humble editor was planning to write about recent events in Rome himself - but then the flood of Roman group articles surprised him, and he decided he has nothing to add, except for a short report of the ongoing GoldFest.About the past and future events of GoldFest, our reporters offer a quite conclusive descriptions on the GoldFest Special area. The History Articles section, edited by Vortigern Aedui, is again filled with material from all cities.

We also have a new Assistant Editor, Aifa Niafer, who is behind the newly separated Archaeology News section. I'm glad to announce we have more Archaeology in this issue than ever before - and I hope this is a continuing trend, so please, submit archaeology news items you have read about to the paper! The Featured Articles section is again filled with interesting texts, poems, and a first part of a novel, as a new type of item.

Thanks to all editors, writers and readers! Again, you have done it; this is a wonderful issue to start our Volume III with. Also, huge thanks to Bryce Yupanqui for the continuous efforts on developing both our technical and graphical possibilities! Our next deadline is - if we now recover from the combination of GoldFest and NOLA II convention - the 13th of November.

ANCIENTWORLDS FROM A NEWBIE POINT OF VIEW
AncientWorlds, Talaitha Domitius

As a new member of AncientWorlds I thought I would pass on my thoughts. I really like the layout and the way things are able to be accessed. I like the who's online com-panel and the instant messaging feature. I like the way each Ancient World has their own section and group activities. Very organized and thought out. The CyberGods, Scribes and Patrons have been a great help in finding things and pointing me in the right direction when I have had questions.

I understand the need for the funding (aka Patron levels) but would like to take this time to make a few observations if I may: I would like to see more options once you reach the novice level, more groups for one. As a Novice and Citizen I am only allowed one group, but I would love to be more active but see this as a block and holding me back. I know of at least two other groups, I am in Arachne, that I would like to be in but can't unless I am a paying patron. I feel that once you reach the Citizen level and have shown an interest in the site that perhaps special privileges should be offered. I would like as a Novice and soon to be Citizen, to be able to have more than one Journal, perhaps webspace for those of us who have graphics etc that are used on the site?

These are just a few things that I have thought of in the short time I have been here. Again I really love the site and can't wait until I can be a Citizen and have a little more ability to be a part of the community. Overall this is a wonderful community and great place to learn and make friends.
