Tips and tricks on "moving in" and decorating your AncientWorlds home
The very best way to feel at home in AncientWorlds is to
"move in" to your very own home, by choosing an avatar, personalizing the
text and graphics and getting to know how to pick up your messages.

 Each resident
at AncientWorlds is represented by an Avatar, an image
(usually of a person) that acts as a virtual version of their 'real' body.
Your avatar is a good way to immediately show your interest in the ancient
world, in costume, hairstyle, and time period.
When you become a citizen of AncientWorlds you are automatically assigned
a default avatar. To pick a new avatar for yourself, click on the 'edit
avatar' link that appears next to your avatar at your home.
You may choose from a wide selection or avatars offered for "sale" by our
talented citizens. Click on a "thumbnail" image of an avatar that strikes
your fancy. If you are happy with your new avatar you can exit the 'Body
Shop' by clicking on "Switch to this avatar." You'll need to confirm your
choice by pressing the link "Are you sure you want to switch to this avatar?
Really switch!" Admire your new look!

Welcome Statements and other room texts tell visitors about why you chose
to become a resident of AncientWorlds or what facet of ancient cultures
interests you.
To customize your texts, click on the [Edit Page] link in each room. A
text box will appear and you can type your descriptions and ideas directly
into the box. Remember to choose the format - plain, HTML, XHTML, XML - you
are using from the pull-down menu. When you are done, click on the SUBMIT
button and your statement will be published. If you want to go back and edit
any statements, click on the [edit page] link again.

Perspectives
Create a customized look for all rooms by clicking on [edit stylesheet].
If you're comfortable with HTML, type the font colour numbers in yourself,
or use the colour wheels to the left to personalize your stylesheet. Press
"Submit Query" to save your stylesheet.

Graphics
To upload graphics, click on your image gallery and then the add an image link. Chose the image file from your computer to upload into your image gallery, chose the type and then hit submit. You can then use these graphics to decorate your home and posts throughout the site
A word of caution. If you only have one graphic in your image gallery - DO NOT DELETE IT. Upload a second image (preferably smaller one) first and then delete the first one. Once you upload the correct image, you can then remove the smaller image.

Click on [edit email preferences] to validate your
current e-mail, change your e-mail address and sign up
for any notices, announcements or newsletters that you
choose to receive.

At times you may want to try life in another city or make a character for
a cooperative storyline. Click on [switch persona] to log in to other
personae registered under your e-mail or if you haven't already done so,
create a new persona. REMINDER: Play fair! Do not use alternate
personae to "gang up" on other citizens or "take over" a board.
