INCOMING AND OUTGOING SCRIBES

Pen and paper
As we get ready for the holidays (see YULE preview below) it is also time to thank our outgoing Scribes for the past year (or two!) of work and support they gave to Germania. Freyja, Bree, and Aelfwine - thank you very much for the energy you infused into our World and we are heartily glad that you served us so well. Bree's beautiful re-design of the Germania homepage will be her legacy. Good luck to you all and please enjoy your retirement!!

Now we introduce our new Scribes!

  • Gisele Grafeldr - Click on her name for her bio - but the long and short of it is: She is a paralegal and animal lover!!! But don't ask her to cook...
  • Attila the Hun - Click on his name to read his full bio. Attila is a scholar who loves to learn! Spending a great deal of time writing, Attila is a great source of medieval information.
  • Elenwe Yngling - Click on her name to read her full bio. This Aussie elven knight loves Tolkien and Mesopotamia, but that doesn't keep her busy enough! Now Germania is in her blood so watch out!

GOLDFEST 2007 - VANDALIZED!

The theme for Germania's Goldfest V was the migration of the Vandals into Carthage in 455AD. Events included:

  • Track the Vandals Tour which began in Lugdunum, then moved to Tolosa and ended in Carthage.
The tour was led by Huneric who has written a Travel Blog about his journey. Click the link and mouse over his picture on each page, and it will pop-up.
  • Get Vandalized Quiz
    Written by Amalasuntha Ostrogoth
  • 455: Rome is Sacked! roleplay
This was a writing contest for those interested in choosing a character and writing that part in the history of the Sack of Rome.

Thank you to all the contributors of text, images, and ideas which made this a fantastic Goldfest day. Both the Quiz and the Tour received AncientWorlds GEMS! Congratulations!

YULE 2007

Sleighbells are ringing as Germania's Annual Yule celebration is right around the corner! Join us December 21-23rd for fun and games.

There will be a quiz on Yule traditions from all over Europe and Nimue Dumnonii has created The GRAAL Quiz based on Arthurian Legends. We will have the infamous Kris Kringle gift exchange, but with a twist! There will be cash prizes for a Yule hunt - so make sure you sign up for that one! I have heard rumors that there will be a recipe exchange and a Yule Goat decorating event as well as a nod to St. Lucia's Day.

Basically it is going to be a jam-packed festival full of fun and games for everyone...oh yeah, and the ever-present bread and ale from Amalasuntha to boot! Watch for more details on the Yule Planning Thread. God Yul!

SCANDINAVIAN NEIGHBORHOODS - A REPORT

Norwegian Flag
One of the projects the new Scribes have decided upon, is to re-do the Scandinavian Hood. There were almost no districts for members to move into, so after much heated debate, some changes will be made in order to create Districts where members can create homes. Realm names were changed and some were added as well as leaving room for more to come. So far the Scandinavian Realms are:

Geatland ~ Island Realms ~ Jylland ~ Kalevala ~ Nóregr ~ Svealand

In these Realms, there are Cities, which are the Districts where members can purchase homes. An example would be Scandinavia-->Geatland-->Gotland.

Decorating and research work is still in progress, but hopefully some of the new Districts will be open for our Yule celebrations. Please contact any of the Scribes for more information, or to help with the work. Thank you to all those who contributed to the discussion and who have already volunteered time and energy to this project.
