Featured Groups

After a summer hiatus, many of AW's groups have been picking up both steam and new members this fall. Here are some of the new and/or interesting groups from which to choose, if you've built every home possible in all 8 worlds, or otherwise!

Tenochtitlan has long investigated Aztec history and continues to expand.

The old German, Norse and Scandinavian languages interest you, to read the sagas yourself? Check out Germania's Kunjarazdôz - The Language Lounge.

Meso has an active group that handles our interest in ancient history PLUS 21st century computers - PC Rulz! (if you google Mac onsite, you'll find there's a group for Mac lovers as well).

The War College of Sun Tzu in the Orient follows one of history's greatest generals and the background to his military precepts.

Celtia's herbal healing lore can be explored at Airmid's Well

Best Goldfest Ever?

We've been celebrating Goldfest at AW, and a good time is always had by all, but it's our Reviewer's opinion that perhaps this was the best Goldfest of them all in terms of the imagination and quality offered by every one of our worlds. In terms of participation and quality, our compliments to all who worked on Goldfest '07. It generated the greatest number of GEMS nominations and awards of any AW Festival!

It's hard to single out specific events, but the GEMS awards (which are defined as "good any time" events) are listed below. Special thanks to Laurels Curius, who has come up with an appropriate "GEMS" plaque to hang on all AW highlights.

Here are very special events:

EGYPT CELTIA
AMERICAS THE ORIENT
GERMANIA MESOPOTAMIA

Finally, in the "site-wide" category, a team of writers and artists from every world came up with The Stone Story, in which our demi, Cornellia Cornelius, underwent more traumatic adventures than the heroine of an old-fashioned melodrama.

Again, many thanks to each and every volunteer and participant who helped make GF7 such fun, and helped us celebrate our "official" fifth anniversary at AncientWorlds.

Volunteer Thanks!

Every year about the time of our AW anniversary, we ask for nominations for very special volunteers who have contributed to their worlds, or to the site as a whole, during the prior year. The AW elves were out tippytoing through people's homes, leaving plaques to many new volunteers, to whom all thanks are due.

You can always check our honored volunteers by taking a look at the various world threads under the AncientWorlds Roll of Honor board. Each year the list is updated. Again, thank you for your work and dedication, world-builders!
