    Welcoming Our Newest Scribe
Created by: * Jia Li Shen Chi, subeditdate
A warm welcome to our newest scribe, Lara Vardhana
and a fond farewell to our retiring scribe, Shibori Murasaka

Rolling out the welcome mat for the Orient's newest scribe:
    Ni Hao! Konnichiwa! Namaste!

Please welcome our new scribe, Lara Vardhana! Most of you already know Lara from her previous life as Lalita Ashoka, one of the Orient's fabulous first scribes. We are honoured to work and play with such a warm, friendly, talented lady. Be sure to drop by her home and say hello. She's altogether lovely ~ a Gem of the Orient!

Waving goodbye to our retiring scribe:
    Sayonara! Zài jiàn! Ta-ta!

Now it's time to bid a fond farewell to our beloved Lady of Kimono, Shibori Murasaka, who has retired from her scribal duties after two years of giving so much of herself to the Orient. We know she deserves a rest, but she will be missed! Fortunately, many of our neighbourhoods and events are decorated with mementos of her artistic talent; and she can still be found serving tea on her Xi Hu estate and decorating her kimono shop in Kyobashi.

When you have a moment, visit Shibori's homesite and leave a little thank you note on her scroll.

    • Farewell and Welcome!

I too cannot imagine how plain the Orient would be without your lovely ladies, Shibori. You've been a great asset to our world and we're going to miss you being a scribe. Thank you for all you've done! I'll look forward to chatting with you when I see you.

Lara - welcome! I know we three will have a fine time working in the Orient together.

    • Dont go too far, Shibori!

Can you imagine what this world would look like without her style? It would be a very different landscape. And not a very exciting one. What I really love about Shibori's many, many contributions is that she was the first to bring in a modern Japanese artistic style (such as MANGA MANIA!) to ancient Asian foundations. Think about how incredibly popular that turned out to be! It created a beautiful connection that drew in many of our current patrons. I honestly feel that connection was missing before she scribed here.

Shibori I just think you're fabulous and I have since the day I met you. Kind, forgiving, passionate and talented and always encouraging. I am so proud to consider you a friend and I think the Orient feels the same way!
